The Mikhail Gorbachev Award “The Man Who Changed the World” organizing committee announces postponement of the 2012 Award Ceremony

The Mikhail Gorbachev Award aims to celebrate those who changed the world for the better. The underlying idea of the Award is the primacy of universal human values. It is non-political and has a global and genuinely humanitarian character.

In the view of the organizing committee, the increasingly intense political activity, sharp politicization of public life and polarization of opinions in today’s Russia could influence the situation with respect to the Award, unduly politicizing its image.

With that in mind, the Mikhail Gorbachev Award organizing committee has decided that the Award Ceremony, which was to be held in Berlin on March 20, will be postponed to a later date, to be announced in due time.
