“Perestroika – or change – is a fact of life the world over. This Award informs people about the changes which are always happening. The aim of the Award is to stimulate the creativity and thinking of people to help change the world for the better. I see my task as ensuring that what we have started is protected and grown by future generations and that our children cherish and nurture the world we all share.”
The Mikhail Gorbachev Award aims to celebrate those who changed the world for the better. The underlying idea of the Award is the primacy of universal human values. It is non-political and has a global and genuinely humanitarian character. (more…)
